FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q. What payment methods can I use?
A. The Legend Dental Centre accepts cash, debit, Mastercard and Visa.
Q. Do you offer payment plans?
A. Larger treatment plans and/or other services not covered by your dental benefits plan may be eligible for our payment plans – call or visit the Legend Dental Centre for more information.
Q. What is the dental cleaning process?
A. Dental Hygienists are trained to perform many different types of cleanings. At the Legend Dental Centre, we assess each individual’s oral health and make appropriate choices for cleaning based on our findings.
Q. How will I know what kind of treatment I need?
A. Not to worry – the team at the Legend Dental Centre will perform comprehensive examinations to find any pre-existing oral conditions and recommend the best possible treatments for your individual needs.
Q. My teeth are becoming discoloured – why is this?
A. There are many factors that can contribute to tooth discolouration, such as:
- Aging of the tooth
- Coffee, tea, cola, and tobacco
- Tooth Decay
- Old fillings
Some of these stains can be removed by regular treatment, including professional scaling and polishing. Others are harder to remove as they are “trapped” inside the surface of the offending tooth. The only way to clean or remove these types of deeper stains is with professional whitening treatment.
Q. How are veneers applied?
A. Veneers are attached directly to your existing teeth. Applying veneers is a multi-visit procedure. During your first visit, your teeth will be prepared by removing a very thin layer of enamel. A mold of your teeth will be made in order for the veneers to be custom made for your mouth. During your follow up appointment, your teeth are conditioned with a mild solution, and the veneers are bonded to your teeth with a special hardening glue, that is bonded with a high intensity light. Then, the veneers are polished to blend them into your teeth.
Q. What is a crown?
A. A crown is a covering that sits over the top of a tooth, creating a tooth surface to protect, cover, seal and strengthen. Crowns are used in many different scenarios as they are very effective and often allow your dentist to save a tooth rather than having to resort to implanting a false one in it’s place. Some situations where a crown may be the best solution for you include:
- cracked teeth
- Larger fillings that have broken down or decayed
- Teeth that are very sensitive, either from wear or receding gums
- A tooth that has broken and is too weak for a filling
- A tooth that has undergone a Root Canal
Q. What is a bridge?
A. A bridge is a fixed dental restoration used to replace a missing tooth by joining an artificial tooth to an adjacent tooth and/or dental implant. Types of bridges can vary, depending upon how they are made and the way they will be joined.
